Frequently Asked Questions About PBFA Membership

Have a question that isn’t on the list? Reach out to us at membership@plantbasedfoods.org.

Our dues vary based on the membership type you qualify for. PBFA’s membership dues for Members (food manufacturers) are tiered based on the company’s gross U.S. plant-based sales from the previous year. You can access the dues range for Members here. All other members are considered Partners. For Partners, we offer a flexible, tiered model that allows businesses to choose the benefits that are most relevant to their business goals. You can view the breakdown of benefit offerings here.
PBFA is excited to welcome international companies to our member community, and we have an ever-growing presence internationally. While our work focuses on the US market and we don’t currently do any international work through PBFA, our sister nonprofit, the Plant Based Foods Institute, has programs focused on international labeling and partnership through the Plant Based Foods Global Alliance.
If your primary industry focus is manufacturing plant-based products, please apply as a Member. If your company engages in any other support services for the plant-based foods industry, including but not limited to retail, foodservice, ingredient supply, consulting work, marketing services, legal services, investment services, equipment supply, etc., please apply as a Partner member. Supporter membership is open to anyone not associated with a food manufacturing company, ingredient company, or service provider to the industry. Please note that individual members have access to a more limited set of PBFA benefits.
We hold regular in-person and virtual events for our members throughout the year. Because our members are sprinkled across the country (and even internationally; see question 2!), our in-person gatherings are typically built around events where many members will already be congregating, like major trade shows and conferences. Additionally, we offer members periodic opportunities to lobby with PBFA in Washington, DC on priority issues impacting our industry.
To reflect industry priorities, only our Members who manufacture at least one finished plant-based product are eligible to apply for our Board of Directors. Companies producing both ingredients and manufactured goods may qualify if registered as Members.

PBFA also offers the opportunity for members to inform our policy priorities by serving on our Policy Working Group. All Members and Partners in the Champion tier are eligible to apply to join our Policy Working Group.
