It's Simple: Food Made from Plants
The plant-based market continues to grow—and Certified Plant Based is growing with it: As of 2024, eligibility has been expanded to include all plant-based food with no animal-derived ingredients, pet food, and vitamins and supplements. *Plant-based foods include foods from whole grains, nuts, seeds, and/or legumes (peas, beans, and other pulses), vegetables, fruits, fungi, and algae. Products with any amount of animal-derived ingredients are not eligible for Certified Plant Based. Products classified as “single-ingredient raw foods,” such as fruits and vegetables, are also not eligible at this time.
Getting Certified
To provide a higher level of objectivity and integrity, Certified Plant Based products are all independently verified by NSF International and must pass a review process before the label can be used. Review the certification protocol here.
NSF will direct you to register with and sign a trademark licensing agreement with PBFA. Once your licensing agreement is signed, you will receive the Certified Plant Based seal logo pack. A licensing agreement must be signed for your certification to become active.
