The term ultra-processed foods (UPFs) is increasingly shaping public debate and policy discussions. From state-level bills  to federal regulatory proposals, UPFs are drawing attention from decision-makers, media, and consumers alike, sometimes with plant-based foods being swept into the narrative.

To help our members navigate this complex landscape, PBFA - together with Bel Brands, Danone NA, Oatly, and Soy Nutrition Institute (SNI) Global - commissioned focus group research through Hart Research to identify the strongest arguments to convince policy-makers that plant-based foods should not be swept into state and federal UPF policy definitions. In this webinar, Corrie Hunt, a Partner at Hart Research, will present topline findings from that work, highlighting effective strategies to differentiate plant-based foods from other types of foods being discussed under the UPF policy umbrella.

In addition, PBFA’s Senior Director of Policy, Marjorie Mulhall, will provide an overview of the latest state and federal policy developments related to UPFs, helping members anticipate what’s coming and prepare effective responses.
