Setting Sail Toward the Future: A Plant-Based Take on F&B@Sea 2025
Written by: Hannah Lopez

This past week, the sun wasn’t the only thing shining in Miami –– innovation and flavor took center stage at the highly anticipated F&B@Sea show, where the cruise industry came together to explore the future of food and beverage on the high seas. PBFA was proud to partner with the show once again, continuing our mission to champion plant-based innovation across all sectors of foodservice, including the ever-growing cruise line market.
Expanding Horizons for Plant-Based at Sea
With dietary preferences and food allergies becoming more top-of-mind for travelers, cruise lines are actively seeking solutions that accommodate all guests while keeping menus exciting, flavorful, and globally inspired. At this year’s show, PBFA members led the way in proving just how versatile and craveable plant-based food can be.
From allergen-friendly swaps to culinary creativity, plant-based brands showcased a wide assortment of products that make it easier than ever for cruise line operators to diversify their menus without compromising on taste or guest satisfaction.
Member Highlights from the Show Floor
- Violife wowed attendees with the debut of their brand-new soft serve dairy-free ice cream, offering a creamy, indulgent experience free from common allergens. Their booth also featured creamsicle-inspired sodas made with their plant-based creamers—a nostalgic twist that caught the attention of both operators and guests looking for innovative, dairy-free beverages.
- PAOW!, a proud PBFA member, went all out with an impressive buffet featuring over 10 globally inspired cuisines – all made with their signature plant-based meats. From Latin-inspired tacos to Asian stir-fries, their activation showcased just how seamless and delicious plant-based food can be across all dayparts and cultural menus.
- Impossible Foods brought the indulgence with samples of their iconic Impossible Burger, drawing a crowd eager to taste just how meaty and satisfying plant-based food can be. The burger’s rich flavor and satisfying texture offered a compelling case for cruise lines looking to elevate their better-for-you burger options without sacrificing guest appeal.

Wellness Pioneer Award
A major moment during the event was the presentation of the Wellness Pioneer Award, hosted by PBFA. This year’s recipient, Purely Elizabeth, was recognized for their leadership in the wellness space and their commitment to clean, plant-based eating. Their better-for-you granola products continue to set the standard for what’s possible when health meets flavor.
Why This Matters
Cruise guests are increasingly looking for plant-based options, whether for health reasons, sustainability concerns, or personal values. Events like F&B@Sea are crucial for demonstrating how plant-based food is no longer a niche request, but a flavorful, inclusive, and strategic move for hospitality operators—especially those catering to a global audience.
By working closely with chefs, procurement teams, and F&B directors, PBFA and our members are ensuring that plant-based isn’t just available—it’s desirable.
What’s Next?
PBFA will continue to build strategic partnerships within the foodservice and hospitality sectors to drive accessibility and excitement around plant-based food. Our work with F&B@Sea is just one example of how collaboration can spark real innovation—and create meaningful change for people, the planet, and the plate.
If you’re a foodservice operator looking to bring more plant-based options onboard, we’re here to help.
